Step-by-Step Instructions

Entering Time in LeanLaw:

  1. Access LeanLaw:

    1. Log in to your LeanLaw account.

  2. Navigate to the Time Entry Tab:

    1. Once logged in, go to the Time Entry tab.

  3. Create a Time Entry:

    1. Click on “Create Entry” to initiate the time entry process.

  4. Choose a Timekeeper:

    1. Select a timekeeper from the available options. By default, it should be you (the person logged in), but you can choose another individual if you are entering time on their behalf (e.g., an attorney or paralegal).

  5. Select the Date:

    1. Choose the date for the time entry. You can pick the appropriate date for the work you are entering.

  6. Select the Client and Matter:

    1. Pick the client for whom you are entering time. The matter field should auto-populate based on the client’s details.

  7. Enter Description and Time:

    1. In the description field, provide a brief description of the work performed.

    2. Enter the amount of time spent on this activity (e.g., 1 hour).

  8. Create the Entry:

    1. Click “Create Entry” to save the time entry.

  9. Repeat for Bulk Entries:

    1. The time entry screen automatically resets for a new entry, retaining the last date, client, and matter for quick entry.

    2. To add more time entries for the same client and matter, change the date, description, and time, then click “Create Entry” again.

  10. Change Client or Matter (Optional):

    1. If you need to switch to a different client or matter, select the desired client and make necessary date changes.

    2. Continue entering time as needed.

  11. Review and Finalize:

    1. On the right side of the screen, you’ll see a list of time entries you’ve created.

    2. When you’re finished, click the “X” to exit the bulk time entry screen.

  12. Review Time Entries:

    1. You’ll be back on the main time entry page.

    2. Here, you can review your time entries.

  13. Filter Time Entries: (Optional):

    1. Use the filter options on the left to sort and filter your time entries based on criteria like time period, timekeeper, billing status, client, matter, or keyword.

  14. Search by Keyword (Optional):

    1. If you remember a specific keyword in your time entry description, you can search for it by typing the word in the search box.

  15. Sorting Entries:

    1. Click on the column headers to sort your time entries by timekeeper, date, client, matter, or other criteria.

  16. Edit Entries (if needed):

    1. If you need to make changes to a time entry, click on the entry to open an edit window.

    2. Make the necessary changes, then save the changes.

That’s it! You’ve successfully entered time in LeanLaw using the bulk time entry method. You can repeat these steps as needed to manage your time entries efficiently.
