Step-by-Step Instructions
Entering Time Through the Calendar
Access LeanLaw:
Log in to your LeanLaw account.
Navigate to the Calendar Tab:
Click on the “Calendar” tab within LeanLaw.
Understand the Calendar Page:
Note that the calendar page in LeanLaw is used for timekeeping purposes only and does not replace your Google or Outlook calendars. It’s a resource for tracking billable hours.
Enter Time Using the Calendar:
To visually record time, click on the relevant time slot on the calendar (e.g., drag from 10 AM to 11 AM if you worked during that time).
This action will open a time entry form.
Fill in the details, including the description of the work, whether it’s billable, and the rate associated with the matter
Click “Save” to create the time entry.
View Time Entries on the Calendar:
The time entry you just created will appear on the calendar page.
You can also access it later in the “Time Entries” tab.
Entering Time with a Timer
Start a New Timer:
If you prefer using timers, click “Start New Timer” on the calendar page.
Choose a Client:
Select the client you are currently working for. If you have an active timer for another client, you can pause it and start a new one.
Enter Details (Optional):
Fill in the details of the work you are doing, or leave them blank for now.
Pause and Restart Timers:
If you receive a phone call or need to switch tasks, pause the current timer.
Start a new timer for the new task or client.
You can switch between timers as needed by pausing and restarting them.
Save Timer Entries:
When you complete a task or phone call, click the save icon.
A time entry form will appear, allowing you to add a description and adjust the time if necessary.
Click “Save” to create the time entry.
Keep Timer (Optional):
If you plan to continue working on the same task and want to keep the timer running, click “Keep Timer” before saving.
This saves a new timer for your ongoing work.
Review Timers:
All time entries, whether from timers or manual entries, will be visible in the “Time Entries” tab.
Visual Representation on Calendar:
Time entries are also displayed visually on the calendar page.
Each day with logged hours will have a green line, with longer lines representing more hours worked.
That’s it! You’ve successfully learned how to record time entries in LeanLaw using both the calendar page and timers. This method allows you to efficiently track billable hours and manage your workday visually.
