At LeanLaw, we understand the importance of presentation in your billing processes. That's why we're excited to introduce our new Invoice PDF functionality, designed to give your law firm the flexibility to create invoices that reflect your professionalism and the value you provide to your clients.

Step-by-Step Guide in Practice

To better understand how these features work in practice, here’s a brief guide from a recent video introduction by our Product Manager, Melissa Schaefers:

  • Initial Setup: Start by selecting your template and configuring it with your law firm’s logo and client information.

  • Activity Table Customization: Adjust the table to include necessary details like date, description, rate, hours, and more based on your firm’s needs.

  • Applying Templates to Clients or Matters: Choose whether to apply changes to a single matter or all matters under a client to streamline your billing process.

Key Features

Multiple Template Options

  • Pro Firms: Access three different templates to choose from, allowing you to tailor your invoices to different needs or preferences of your firm.

  • Standard Firms: Benefit from one standard, customizable template.

Customizable Activity Table

  • Flexibility: Include between 0 to 8 columns in the activity table on your invoice.

  • Customization: Rearrange columns as needed to highlight the most relevant information for your clients.

Independent Summaries

  • Add or remove Account, Trust, and Hours summaries independently to suit the specific needs of each invoice.

Template Management

  • Default Settings: Your default template will apply to all matters unless specified otherwise.

  • Matter-Specific Templates: Easily apply different templates to individual matters or to all matters under a specific client through your invoice settings.

How to Access and Use the New Features

Managing Templates

  • Navigate to Settings > Invoice Email in your LeanLaw account.

  • Here, you can create a new template, edit an existing one, or change your default template.

Updating a Matter’s Template

  • Go to Matters, select the desired matter, then Billing & Rates.

  • Click on Invoice Template, select the appropriate template, and save your changes.

Advanced Release Access

  • Ensure you have an account with our payments partner, Confido.

  • Contact support to enable these new features.
