These changes improve how you view, edit, and manage users, while introducing new ways to organize and update user-specific data.
What’s Changed
A New Slide-In User Panel
When you click into a user, you’ll now see a slide-in panel instead of a pop-up.
Why this matters:
More consistent with newer LeanLaw pages
Easier to navigate without losing context
Cleaner layout for managing user details
Tab-Based Navigation
User settings are now organized into tabs, making it easier to find what you need:
Details – Name, role, and core settings
Rates – Manage user billing rates
Advanced – Additional settings, including:
Classing and distributions (if enabled)
Lead settings (for applicable firms)
Custom fields
Why this matters:
No more stacked pop-ups
Faster access to key settings
Better organization of complex configurations
Actions Moved to More Intuitive Locations
User actions (like disabling or re-inviting a user) have been relocated for easier access:
Primary actions are now available at the top of the page
Additional actions are grouped within the Advanced tab
Why this matters:
Less scrolling
Clearer separation between everyday actions and advanced options
Active & Inactive User Tabs
Users are now organized into two tabs instead of separate tables:
Active Users
Inactive Users
Why this matters:
Cleaner interface
Easier to manage user status
Less visual clutter
Sorting Improvements
You’ll now see visual indicators (arrows) showing how user lists are sorted.
Why this matters:
Clearer understanding of list order
Easier to organize and review users
New Feature: Custom Fields for Users
You can now create and manage custom fields for users directly within LeanLaw.
Supported Field Types
Dropdown fields
Number fields
Text fields
These fields allow you to track additional information specific to your firm’s workflows.
Managing Custom Fields
Where to Find Them
Custom fields are available in the Advanced tab when viewing an individual user.
Bulk Editing Custom Fields
You can now view and edit custom field values across multiple users in one place.
How it works:
Navigate to the user custom fields view
See all users and their associated field values
Edit values directly in the table
Click Save to apply changes
Why this matters:
Update multiple users at once
Save time on repetitive edits
Maintain consistency across your team
Example Use Cases
Track internal budget allocations per user
Assign user status (e.g., Active, Contractor, Partner)
Store firm-specific metadata for reporting or workflows
What Stayed the Same
While the layout has changed, all existing functionality is still available—just organized in a more intuitive way.
