If your firm is encountering issues with submitting multiple distributions to QuickBooks in one day, you may have the setting Distribution Bill Number enabled in your LeanLaw settings. This setting sets each distribution number to the current date. If you try to submit multiple distributions in a day you may receive an error stating that one or more users in QuickBooks share a name with the distribution.

In this case, you will need to turn off the Distribution Bill Number setting in LeanLaw or change the bill number of the distributions already in QuickBooks for a given date to something different before submitting a second distribution.

Turn off the Distribution Bill Number Setting

1. Go to LeanLaw Settings

First, navigate to the LeanLaw Settings page. You can access this by clicking on the Gear Icon โš™ in LeanLaw's main navigation bar.

2. Select QuickBooks under Integrations

Once you're on the Settings page, find and select the QuickBooks option. This will take you to the QuickBooks Settings page.

3. Locate the Distribution Bill Number toggle

On the QuickBooks Settings page, scroll down to find the Distribution Bill Number setting.

4. Turn off the Distribution Bill Number toggle

To turn off the Distribution Bill Number setting, simply toggle the switch to No. This will disable the setting and prevent LeanLaw from setting each distribution bill number to the current date.

5. Save changes

Don't forget to save your changes by clicking the Save Changes button located on the bottom-right corner of the page. This will ensure that the changes you've made are applied and saved.

That's it! By following these simple steps, you can turn off the Distribution Bill Number setting in LeanLaw and avoid any issues with duplicate bill numbers in QuickBooks Online. Try submitting the distribution again and let us know if you have any questions.
