Archiving inactive matters helps streamline your LeanLaw experience, reducing the number of matters you need to sift through when creating time entries or searching for information.
All reports include a "Show Archived" filter, which you can set to "Include Archived," ensuring you always have access to archived data. This guide will walk you through archiving a matter and, if needed, reactivating it.
How to archive a matter
1. Open the Matters page
In the main navigation bar at the top of LeanLaw, select the "Matters" tab to navigate to the Matters page.
2. Open the matter
On the Matters page, locate the matter you want to archive and select its name to access the Info page.
Tip: To quickly locate a matter, type its name in the "Search in Matters" box. If the matter you want to archive isn’t appearing, try disabling the "Show Matters for User" filter by clicking the "x" inside it.
3. Click the Archive button
On the matter's information page, locate the "Archive" button on the center-right and click it. When the green "OK" button appears, click it to confirm. This action will archive the matter, removing it from various functions in LeanLaw.
How to activate an archived matter
The Activate button, used to reactivate an archived matter, is located in the same spot as the Archive button. To access archived matters rather than active ones, enable the Show Archived filter on the Matters page.
1. Open the Matters page
In the main navigation bar at the top of LeanLaw, select the "Matters" tab to navigate to the Matters page.
2. Click the Show Archived filter
In the left sidebar of the Matters page, locate the filters section. Click the checkbox next to "Show Archived" to activate this filter.
3. Open the matter
On the Matters page, with the Show Archived filter enabled, find the archived matter you want to activate. Click the name of the matter to access its Info page.
4. Click the Activate button
On the center-right of the matter's information page, click the button labeled "Activate." This will restore your matter to an active state, allowing it to be selected for time entries, expenses, and other functions again.
