Q: How do I edit a deposit in a trust account? It was entered incorrectly and I need to change the amount of the deposit. Thanks!


A: You can edit the trust deposit that was done incorrectly in QuickBooks Online by editing the deposit within the accounts register.

If a Trust Deposit was made incorrectly, navigate to Quickbooks Online to delete the deposit.

Note: This require access to the firm’s QuickBooks Online account.

1. Open the Chart of Accounts

In Settings (⚙), select Chart of Accounts:

2. Find the Liability Account

Under the Chart of Accounts, find the liability account associated with the Trust Deposit and select View Register:

3. Locate the Trust Deposit

In the Client/Company chart, select the Trust Deposit:

4. Edit The Deposit and Save

Verify the correct amount and adjust the amount deposited. Finally, select Save and LeanLaw will update with your changes.

Note: Refresh the LeanLaw web page to see the changes reflected for the payment.
