How to Hide Fixed Fee Time on the LeanLaw Invoice

You can now hide fixed fee time entries from the final invoice PDF, while still keeping those entries in LeanLaw for tracking and reporting.

What this feature does

When enabled, fixed fee time entries:

  • Do not appear on the final invoice PDF sent to your client

  • Remain visible internally in LeanLaw for tracking and reporting

  • Are still billed through your normal workflow

This is especially helpful if you want to:

  • Track time against fixed fee matters

  • Avoid showing detailed time entries to clients

  • Eliminate the extra step of marking fixed fee time as billed

Important notes

  • This feature is only available for firms using the LeanLaw Invoice PDF

  • It does not affect the invoice generated in QuickBooks Online

  • It does not affect LEDES files

  • Changes apply only to newly generated invoices using the updated template

How to enable Hide Fixed Fee Detail

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Select Invoice Email

  3. Open the invoice template you want to update

  4. Toggle on Hide Fixed Fee Detail

  5. Click Save

Once saved, generate a new invoice using this template.

What you’ll see on the invoice

  • Fixed fee time entries will not be visible on the final invoice PDF

  • Fixed fee amounts are still billed correctly

  • Time entries remain available internally for reference and reporting

What changed from before

Previously, firms needed to manually mark fixed fee time entries as billed to prevent them from appearing on invoices.

With this update:

  • No manual cleanup is required

  • You can bill fixed fee matters using your standard workflow

  • Visibility is controlled entirely by the invoice template
