Yes, you can add a fixed fee to an hourly matter. LeanLaw allows you to apply fixed fees to matters regardless of the billing type. This flexibility lets you incorporate structured pricing while still tracking hourly work.

Do I have to remember to "complete" the completion based fixed fee?

Yes, you must manually mark the fixed fee as "completed" when the work is finished. This ensures that the fee is included in billing and prevents it from being left unbilled or affecting financial reports inaccurately.

Can I track time entries against Completion Based Fixed Fees ?

Yes, you can track time entries against Completion Based Fixed Fees. Simply select the Fixed Fee from the Fixed Fee list when creating the time entry! These entries will be recorded in LeanLaw and can be used for internal reporting and analysis.

What happens to my fixed fee hours? Do they show up on my invoice? Can I hide them?

Any hours worked under a fixed fee can still be tracked within LeanLaw. However, you have control over their visibility on invoices:

  • Show Hours: You can choose to display the hours on the invoice for transparency with your clients.

  • Hide Hours: If you prefer, you can exclude the hours from the invoice, ensuring that only the fixed fee amount is visible.
